Introduction

The Deerness Valley Methodist Church is a church that meets over three sites in Bearpark, Brandon and Esh Winning to worship and serve God and offer a variety of social activities to the local communities. Please also visit our own website: www.deernessvalleymethodistchurch.org

Our worship is usually led by ministers and local preachers from the Durham and Deerness Valley Circuit and occasionally by our in-house worship team. Services at Esh Winning normally follow a more informal ‘Songs’ of Praise’ pattern and sometimes include Holy Communion.

Locations

BEARPARK – George Terrace, Bearpark, DH7 7AQ

Directions: Follow the A167 from Neville’s Cross, turn left at the traffic lights just past Sainsburys.  The road leads to Bearpark (and on to Ushaw College). Continue a short distance past the car showroom/garage, the church is on the left beside the Busy Bears Nursery and almost opposite the Community Centre which has a large steel wheel displayed.

Accessibility – there is a ramped entrance at the side, then step-free

Parking is available outside the church, and at the Community Centre opposite.

Public transport – Arriva service 48 to stop outside the church.

BRANDON –  Carr Avenue, Brandon, DH7 8QG

Directions: Take the A690 out of Durham towards Crook, passing through Nevilles Cross and Langley Moor. Once in Meadowfield, take the second right hand turn just past the second pelican crossing. The church is situated towards the top of this road past the school and the youth club on the left-hand side.

Accessibility – the building is step-free

Public transport – Arriva service 49 to Lowland Road Co-op then walk back along Lowland Rd and turn up Carr Avenue, Arriva service 49A & Go Northeast service 21 to Brandon Welfare – walk back down road and turn right down Carr Avenue

ESH WINNING: Hamsteels Community Centre, Western Avenue, Esh Winning DH7 9LS 

Directions We are located just off the B6302 Newhouse Road. Proceed to the second entrance into the estate; turn left off the B6302 onto Western Avenue – the Hamsteels Community Centre is approx. 100 yards on your right, beyond the shops.

Accessibility – the building is step-free

Parking is on street and behind the adjacent shops

Public transport – Arriva service 43 to Western Avenue shops and walk back
